PSAT Preparation Course

Due to parent demand, PREPSKILLS® is running a specific PSAT Preparation Course for students entering into grades 9 and 10 in the Fall.

Don’t let Grade 10 pass you by without preparing for the PSAT!
The PSAT is the Preliminary SAT. American students prepare for the PSAT in Grade 9 and they write the PSAT in Grade 10.

A high score on the PSAT means that American colleges will be notified of your interest in college admissions. Top colleges will send you promotional and scholarship information, and even begin to actively recruit you.

Remember: you can also use strong PSAT scores on your college admissions application in Grade 12. Providing strong PSAT scores as part of your overall application indicates your organizational skills as well as your dedication to college studies.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

PSAT stands for Preliminary SAT . It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT Reasoning Test™.

The PSAT measures:

  • critical reading skills
  • math problem-solving skills
  • writing skills

The most common reasons for taking the PSAT are:

  • to receive feedback on your strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college study. You can then focus your preparation on those areas that could most benefit from additional study or practice before taking the official SAT Reasoning Test.
  • to see how your performance on an admissions test might compare with that of others applying to college.
  • to enter the competition for scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (grade 11) if you are an American citizen.
  • to help prepare for the official SAT. You can become familiar with the kinds of questions and the exact directions you will see on the SAT.
  • to receive information from colleges when you check "yes" to Student Search Service.

The PSAT test dates are held every October (usually mid October -Wednesday or Saturday option).  You must sign up for the PSAT at your high school or at another high school in your community.  This test is administered by high schools, not through test centres.  Online registration for the PSAT is NOT available.  Please note that each high school chooses only one October test date.
